1,150 miles of shoreline and one famous floating summer party.
There is no lake in Missouri with more shoreline than the Ozarks — 1,150 miles of it, winding through the hills in a shape locals swear looks like a dragon. And somewhere in that dragon, on any summer weekend, is Party Cove.
The Floating Weekend
By noon on a Saturday, dozens of pontoons raft up in a protected cove, music carries across the water, and the whole cove becomes a floating block party. It is loud, friendly, and unmistakably Missouri — the kind of gathering that only happens when a lake has this much shoreline and this many people who love it.
“You don't find Party Cove on a map. You follow the music.”
But the Ozarks is more than one cove. Idle away from the crowd and the lake opens into long, quiet arms where the bluffs drop straight into deep water and the only sound is your own wake. That's the real magic — a lake big enough for a party and a peace, sometimes on the same afternoon.
